Mr. Coleman earned a B.A. from McGill University, holds the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, and is licensed for both Commercial and Personal Lines brokerage in multiple jurisdictions.
He presently holds and has occupied executive-level board seats on several industry and not-for-profit charitable organizations, and is a regular participant and speaker at professional and educational conferences.
He is an avid skier, golfer, and distance runner, and coaches youth hockey and soccer.
As chief operating officer at TERN Financial Group, Ian Swain is responsible for the global operations of the company. His experience and leadership have been focused on developing and delivering technology-driven business services and solutions and providing outstanding client service.
Ian brings more than 30 years of financial services knowledge and experience to the company. He is an astute executive manager who prior to co-founding TERN Financial, served as Executive Vice President of Data Services at Statpro Inc., delivering financial data and services to the global institutional investment community.
In 2002, he founded Initram Data Inc., providing mission-critical data and services to the Custodian and Mutual Fund industries, later selling to the Statpro Group where he was appointed North American Board Director and managed the organization’s global data services.
Ian studied Mathematics and Computer Science at McGill University, is an active board member, community volunteer, and sails, curls and cross country skis in his leisure time.
Eckart brings over fifty years of risk management and insurance knowledge, experience, perspective and insights to TERN Financial Group. Throughout his unparalleled career he has been a true pioneer and leader across all facets of the insurance business: broking, underwriting, claims management and advocacy, alternative risk finance, captive insurance, corporate risk finance, enterprise risk, commodity and foreign exchange risk management.
He has been recognized for his excellence on several occasions, notably Business Insurance Risk Manager of the Year (1973), Power Broker of the Year in the Transportation Segment (2008) and the David Frees Award of the Rail Risk Management Association (2012).
Jonathan is an experienced businessman with an international track record in the service sector as well as significant community involvement. He is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Exchange Data International Limited, a financial data provider with operations on three continents. Since 1992 he has acted as a consultant providing strategic direction and advice to a diverse group of clients including an investment holding company, utility consulting company, recruitment agency, trade association, publishers both in the USA and United Kingdom, a facilities management company and financial services companies. He has also undertaken extensive research on mergers and acquisitions for various companies.
He is currently a non-executive Director for a number of companies and a councillor for Haringey. Formerly he was a main board member of London listed International Business Communications (Holdings) PLC.
